Code Systems

Browse 642 code system definitions with FHIR URI and OID mappings

Code systems bridge the gap between HL7 v2 table numbers and FHIR canonical URIs. The code system registry identifies each coding system by its HL7 Table 0396 code and links it to its FHIR canonical URI and OID where defined; HL7-defined systems (HL7nnnn codes) additionally bind to their v2 table, and external systems link out to the steward's website where available.

What Code Systems Cover

HL7 v2 Tables

User-defined and HL7-defined tables referenced by coded fields (CWE, CNE, ID data types)

External Standards

LOINC, SNOMED CT, ICD, RxNorm, and other vocabulary standards with their canonical identifiers

Local/Site-Specific Systems

Locally defined coding systems that can be registered with OIDs for interoperability

FHIR Canonical URIs

The FHIR URI for each code system (e.g., http://loinc.org, http://snomed.info/sct)

OID Cross-References

ISO Object Identifiers mapped to each code system for use in CDA and v3 contexts

Code systems are sourced from HL7 Table 0396 (Coding System) enriched with FHIR URI mappings from the HL7 Terminology (THO) package.
