Definition: This is a repeating field with a component for indicating which phone number is which. The TN data type includes a last component which can be used to indicate whether the preceding phone number is home, beeper, office, FAX, or cellular. This last component can also contain times of day for which the numbers are best used. The STF segment contains a separate field for E-mail address (because it's not in TN format). It is recommended that the last part of the TN, [C any text], start with a code from the table associated below with STF-16-preferred method of contact, in order to indicate the type of each phone number in this repeating field.
