Definition: This optional attribute describes the modality used to classify the observations, e.g., radiograph, ultrasound, CT scan, NMR, etc. This attribute is especially important for imaging studies. Refer to User-defined Table 0259 - Modality for suggested values; they are adopted from DICOM C.7.3.1.1.1 Modality. If these are used, the code source ID would be DCM.
