The experience layer

Your integration engine,
with a modern front end.

When NextGen took open-source Mirth Connect commercial in 2025, the community carried it forward as the Open Integration Engine. OpenShare is the experience layer on top: install one plugin on your OIE, Mirth Connect, or BridgeLink server, and run it from the browser. No new engine, no migration, no channels to move.

See it in action

Real-time visibility. Complete control.

From analytics dashboards to channel administration, everything your team needs in a single browser tab.

Up and running with a free account, in no time. Log in to install the OpenShare plugin on your OIE or Mirth Connect server, or download the OIE + plugin installer we built for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Security & compliance

Security is the architecture.

On-premise data, zero-trust connections, and end-to-end encryption, designed for organizations handling protected health information.

Your PHI stays on your infrastructure

OpenShare never stores your healthcare data. Traffic is end-to-end encrypted in transit, and even a relayed connection carries ciphertext the platform cannot read. The optional PHI-free dashboard exposes metadata only.

WebRTC DTLS/SRTP outbound-only direct-only mode

Designed for HIPAA, aligned with MDDS

Audit logging, role-based access, and BAA terms available for members. As a pure data system that transfers and displays without altering clinical meaning, OpenShare aligns with the FDA's Medical Device Data System classification and is not a registered device.

The OpenShare platform

One install. Everything included.

OpenShare is one product: a single install on your own server, managed from your browser. Everything below is included in one plugin: a unified control plane and an exchange network.

Every capability is free to run. See how membership works →

How it works

Launch in the browser. Connect directly.

Open the Console from openshare.health and it connects straight to your own servers, end-to-end encrypted. Running your fleet, building channels, and wiring up connections to other organizations by hand are all free. You pay only to send a connection request across the exchange network, which finds the organization and secures the link for you.

How OpenShare connects You launch the OpenShare Console from openshare.health. The browser client connects directly to your own OIE and OpenShare plugin servers, end-to-end encrypted. Managing your fleet and wiring up connections by hand are free. You pay only to send a connection request across the exchange network to reach another organization. 1

Launch the Console from openshare.health. It sets up the connection with signaling only, and never sees your data.

2

Everything on your side is free. Connect directly to your own OIE and Mirth servers, build and edit channels (including advanced mode), and monitor your fleet. No membership required.

3

Pay only to send connection requests. A membership is needed only to reach another organization across the exchange network, which finds it and secures the link for you. Connections you wire up by hand, and receiving requests and data, are always free.

Exchange

No middleman. No per-study fees.

Cloud image networks meter your data and copy it onto their servers. OpenShare moves it directly between organizations, with nothing in the middle that can read it.

OpenShare never sees your PHI

Every connection is end-to-end encrypted with WebRTC DTLS/SRTP. OpenShare sets up the link and relays ciphertext it cannot read. Turn the relay off entirely for direct-only in the strictest environments.

Direct transfer, not a cloud copy

Studies and messages move gateway to gateway, direct between organizations. Nothing is stored after delivery, and your engine and all PHI stay on your own infrastructure.

They bill the study. We bill the bytes.

Flat, bandwidth-metered pricing instead of per-image fees. A routine CT costs about eight cents to move. One paid hub, and the rest of the network connects free.

Pricing

Free to run. Pay only to reach out.

Running your own servers and receiving on the exchange network are free forever, and advanced mode lets you build connections and channels to other organizations by hand at no cost. You pay only to reach out through the org-to-org exchange network, which discovers organizations and sets up and secures each connection for you.

Free $0

The whole toolkit for your own OIE and Mirth servers: Console, Gateway, and Monitoring, with full advanced-mode channel building, including direct connections to other organizations you set up and secure yourself. Receive connection requests and data on the exchange network. No server limit, no credit card.

Membership $500/server/mo

Reach out across the network with each connection set up and secured for you: send connection requests, use the Contact Directory and transfer contracts, plus 2.5 GB/mo, then $0.25/GB. Never per study.

During open beta, the paid network features are available at no cost. Free infrastructure features stay free, and members get at least 60 days' notice before paid tiers begin.

Get started

Up and running in five minutes.

1

Install the Gateway

Drop the OpenShare Gateway into your existing OIE or Mirth Connect server and restart. It connects outbound only, with no inbound firewall changes.

2

Open the Console

Sign in from any browser. Administer channels, browse messages, and watch fleet health, with monitoring live from the first connection.

3

Connect & exchange

Find a partner in the directory, send a scoped transfer contract, and move HL7, FHIR, and DICOM org-to-org once both sides accept.

OpenShare is in open beta.

Run your integration engine from the browser and exchange directly with partners. Free to run, and free to try the network during the beta.
